Greek Week

The 2013 Greek Week theme is “Tradition”. Greek Week is a tradition that has been taking place for many years at Duquesne University, and it’s one in which many of the Greek organizations are proud to participate.  It’s an event where Greek organizations are able to come together to compete against one another to become Greek Week champs!  During the week, the Greek community takes part in Greek Games which include tug of war, dizzy bat, pyramid, relay races and more!  Later in the week, there is a dodge ball tournament. There is also a Greek God and Goddess where one member from each fraternity and sorority participates in a pageant which helps raise thousands of dollars for a great charity.   Greek Week also includes an inspirational speaker presenting a talk to all the Greeks about important issues.  Other Greek Week events include:  a Blood Drive for the Red Cross, Can-struction (Greek organizations team-up to create a master piece or creation out of aluminum cans) which are donated to area food banks, and the closing event is Greek Sing which begins with each sorority and fraternity performing their choice of songs followed by the sororities and fraternities pairing-up to present a 10-minute musical act incorporating both song and dance. All of these events are given points and based on that point system by the end of Greek Sing, the fraternity and sorority with the most points wins Greek Week! Greek Week is a great way for all chapters of Greek Life to get together and have fun at numerous events while helping our community.
