On Oct. 25, 2014, Sigma Kappa hosted their 2nd Annual Ultra Violet Challenge. The night included a beer goggle relay, a dodgeball tournament, a game of knockout, and a photo booth! Six teams, making a total of about 50 participants, enjoyed these mini-games and more. Through the event, Sigma Kappa was fortunate enough to raise approximately $1,100 for the Sigma Kappa Foundation, which donates to causes like gerontology and the Maine Sea Coast Mission. The sisters also wanted to send a special thank you to Dan Gittins for all of his help in making this event such a hit!
On Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, Sigma Kappa partnered with Gamma Phi Beta in hosting a Panhellenic-wide event called Hear Me Roar. Nearly 400 women from Duquesne’s sororities came out for the event, which was hosted in the Union Ballroom. Jennifer Cassetta and Lindsey Smith (a Duquesne alumna) are the authors of the book that is guiding the presentation and strive to help women become strong, safe and sexy.
