On Nov. 1, 2014, the Sigma Nu fraternity hosted their annual philanthropic event, White Rose Ball. This event has become a Duquesne tradition that includes a sit-down dinner, a silent auction and the crowning of a queen. This year’s White Rose Ball Queen was Alpha Phi’s representative, Camella Botti-Schwartz. All proceeds of this event are donated to the American Gold Star Mothers, an organization of women who lost a son or daughter in service to our country. More than $10,000 was raised this year, bringing the grand total of money raised to approximately $75,000. Sigma Nu had the special honor this year of hosting three of the Gold Star Mothers, including the President Jennifer Jackman, in addition to the other 160 plus attendees.
