Alumnus Donates Rare 1611 Edition of “The Faerie Queene”

Poet and alumnus Robert Giannetti, who earned his Ph.D. in English Renaissance literature at Duquesne in 1979, recently donated a very rare 1611 folio edition of Edmund Spenser’s The Faerie Queene and the Shepheardes Calendar to Gumberg. The book is the first collected edition of Spenser’s works, printed in London soon after Spenser’s death by Matthew Lownes. It is available in the University Archives.
