The 42nd Senate of the Student Government Association is proud to announce that it hosted a successful 17th annual Night of Lights celebration. Silver Bells was the theme for the event, which occurred Thursday, Dec. 5. Traditional Christmas carols sung by the Duquesne University Chapel Choir and horse-drawn carriage rides occurred throughout the evening on Academic Walk.
The main celebration of the Christmas season occurred at 5:15 p.m. on Academic Walk when President Dougherty “flipped the switch” to light-up our beautiful Bluff. The lighting was followed by a special Christmas dinner in the Union Ballroom. Santa’s Workshop, complete with photo ops with Santa and craft tables, was one of the biggest encouragements for students, faculty, and staff to bring their families and friends and enjoy the evening. To top off the evening’s festivities, Duquesne’s internationally treasured Tamburitzans performed in the Power Center Ballroom. Proceeds from this year’s Night of Lights event were given to Autism Speaks, an organization that raises autism awareness and supports its research.
