The SGA Vice President of Student Life and the 43rd Senate of the Student Government Association are proud to announce that it successfully hosted the 18th annual Night of Lights celebration on Thursday, Dec. 4!
Our Bluff was adorned with traditional Christmas decorations and lights to match this year’s theme, A Christmas Carol. No bah humbug, as Night of Lights began with traditional Christmas carols sung by the Duquesne University Chapel Choir. The main celebration of the Christmas season kicked off at 5:15 p.m. on Academic Walk when President Dougherty “flipped the magic switch” to light-up our beautiful Bluff. The lighting was followed by a special Christmas dinner in the Union Ballroom. Santa’s Workshop, complete with photo ops with Santa and craft tables, was enjoyed by students, faculty and staff. To top off the evening’s festivities, a horse-drawn carriage took students, faculty and families up and down Academic Walk to enjoy the beautiful spectacle of lights across campus.
Proceeds from this year’s Night of Lights event benefited Autism Speaks, an organization that raises autism awareness and supports its research.
