A diverse group of 80 incoming freshman participated in the Pre-Orientation Program coordinated by the Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) on Aug. 19 and 20. Students in this program took advantage of the numerous sessions offered and the opportunity to interact with DU faculty, staff, alumni, and student leaders. Activities included panel discussions, interactive workshops, team builders, and a short trip to capture the beautiful view of the Pittsburgh skyline on the Duquesne Incline.
The OMA Pre-Orientation Program is the first component of the OMA’s Freshman Transition Program. Dr. Hart will continue to meet periodically with each student to ensure that they are making a smooth academic and social transition into the Duquesne campus community. In addition, each student is partnered with a Peer Mentor who will provide him or her with encouragement and guidance that will last the rest of the year and beyond.
