The events take place off campus and offer freshmen students a chance to meet other freshmen students and discover cultural, entertainment and recreational attractions in the Pittsburgh and surrounding region. Freshman Weekend Programs

Once again this year the Freshman Development office is sponsoring weekend programs throughout the fall semester for Freshman. This program is designed to allow our new students to learn about the Pittsburgh area while attending a variety of entertaining events. Subsidized ticket for haunted houses, the Pittsburgh Zoo, Kennywood, Pirates games and the Barnum and Baily Circus are just a few of the highlights.

Duquesne Welcomes New Director of Freshman Development and Special Student Services

Sean Weaver

Sean Weaver has been named director of the Office of Freshman Development and Special Student Services. His primary responsibility is to help freshmen and their families’ transition to life at Duquesne by overseeing support activities and programs, such as Orientation.

Weaver, who previously served as assistant dean and director of student agencies at Princeton University, has more than 15 years of experience in higher education, primarily with student work, at Thomas Jefferson University, Catholic University, the University of Chicago and Georgetown University.

A native of Somerset, Pa., Weaver is familiar with Pittsburgh and said he always heard great things about Duquesne and used to go see the Tamburitzans perform when they came to his hometown.
