New Student Leaders Installed

On Sunday, March 16, 2014, the new officers of the Student Government Association, Residence Hall Association, Commuter Council, Student Government Senate, Duquesne Program Council, Class Councils, Interfraternity Council, Panhellenic Council, Professional Fraternity Council, and the newly founded Black Greek Council were installed at the 11 a.m. Mass in the University Chapel. Breakfast with Santa

On Saturday, Dec. 7, the Office of Residence Life hosted its annual Breakfast with Santa event in the Union Ballroom, with over 200 guests in attendance. Staff and faculty members, along with their families, were able to celebrate the holidays by playing games, making crafts, decorating Christmas cookies, and enjoying a breakfast buffet. Children also had the opportunity to have their picture taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus.  The Office of Residence Life would like to thank all of the Resident Assistants and RHA members who volunteered their time and dressed as elves to facilitate the games and crafts for the event.

Residence Hall Raiders

On Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, Residence Hall Association (RHA) and Athletics will be hosting an event called Residence Hall Raiders at Consol Energy Center during the Dukes basketball game against Penn State. From 4:30-6 p.m., members of RHA will be located in the Rev. Sean Hogan Dining Center in Towers for a tailgate prior to the game. A variety of tailgating food will be available to the students. Residence Hall Association Presents: 2013 Siblings Weekend

This fall, Residence Hall Association will be hosting their annual Siblings Weekend Oct. 25-27. The event is open to all Duquesne residents and their siblings ages 6 to 16. Siblings will be permitted to stay in the Living Learning Centers with the resident. In the years past, RHA has taken the residents and their siblings to the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium around lunchtime on the Saturday of Siblings Weekend. Continue reading

Residence Hall Association’s Campus-Wide Easter Egg Hunt

On Thursday, March 21 executive board members of Residence Hall Association placed Easter Eggs throughout campus. Approximately 300 eggs were placed between Assumption Commons and the Duquesne University Chapel. There were a total of 54 Easter Eggs that contained vouchers for gift cards so that students could pick their prizes up in the Office of Residence Life. Approximately 250 eggs were also hidden that contained candy. Continue reading

Elections

Elections for Commuter Council, Residence Hall Association and Student Government Association will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. Be sure to log on to Campus Link to cast your votes for next year’s student leaders! The Installation Ceremony will be held in the Power Center Ballroom on Sunday, March 17, 2013, at 11 a.m. All are welcome to attend.

Residence Hall Association & Hurricane Sandy Relief

The Residence Hall Association (RHA) recently concluded an effort in the residence halls to raise money for victims of Hurricane Sandy. With numerous Duquesne students coming from areas hardest hit by the storm, RHA members believed that raising money for the victims was a great way to serve both the mission of RHA and the mission of the University. City Game Tailgate

Wednesday, December 5, 2012, Residence Hall Association and Sophomore Class Council hosted the City Game Tailgate in the Hogan Dining Center.

Aramark Dining Services was very gracious and served plenty of tailgate food, such as corn on the cob, chicken wings, hot sausage, pierogies, buffalo chicken pizza and much more!

Students were able to sign up for free raffles to get various Duquesne gear such as hats, a scarf, water bottle, banner and hoodie. Along with the free raffles, members gave out red and blue beads, pride tattoos and offered face painting to the students.

The amount of students that attended the tailgate in the dining hall was approximately 1200!

Residence Hall Association 2012-13

The Residence Hall Association (RHA) serves as the representative student governing body for Duquesne’s Living Learning Centers. Residence Hall Association was organized to ensure an atmosphere conducive to positive group and individual experiences for resident students. During the 2010-11 academic year, a new initiative was introduced to incorporate Hall Councils for each Living Learning Center to get more resident student involvement. With the incorporation of Hall Councils, RHA has grown from five members in the past to approximately 30 active members in the organization. Continue reading

During Mass on Sunday, March 11, the annual Officer Installation Ceremony was held.  The new officers of the Student Government Association, SGA Senate, Duquesne Program Council, Commuter Council, Resident Hall Association, Class Councils and Interfraternity and Panhellenic Councils were installed. A celebratory brunch followed, where former student leader and Duquesne alumnus, Susannah Hoang, Senior Compliance Lead for ALCOA, offered an inspirational message to our new student leaders.
