- Simon Gomez (men’s soccer) awarded Atlantic 10 Post Graduate Scholarship

It was almost a sweep. Brothers of the Alpha Phi Delta Fraternity have long been active and influential on Duquesne’s campus. This summer, their own national fraternity recognized their efforts. The International Students Organization (ISO) is celebrating its annual Fall Continent Night on Oct. 2, 2014. For several years, ISO has been instrumental in promoting cultural diversity through its events, which attracts over 400 students and faculty across campus. What makes the event special this year is the attendance of international alumni since it coincides with Homecoming week on campus.
Experience the south Asian culture of Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan and other neighboring countries through a fashion show, performances and traditional delicacies.

This year’s family weekend is being held Oct. 17-19. A schedule of events can be found at www.duq.edu/family. This year, the Office of Greek Live will be holding Carnival on Friday the Oct. 17 to kick off the weekend. Other signature events include a family jam in the Red Ring, academic open houses, a dueling pianos dinner show and the Residence Life family talent show. Last October, Duquesne Athletics hosted it’s first-ever, student-only event dubbed Dukes Madness. This free 3-on-3 basketball tournament, coordinated by Duquesne Intramurals, ran at the A.J. Palumbo Center as a kickoff event for the basketball season, introducing both men’s and women’s basketball programs to over 300 students in attendance. Continue reading
The Office of Residence Life (ORL) has always strived to make campus an exciting place to live and learn. Throughout the year, the ORL team puts a particular emphasis on livening up the weekends of students who live on campus. Resident Assistants, Resident Directors and Residence Life Central Staff hosted over 150 weekend programs during the 2013-14 academic year, working collaboratively with many student groups and other offices including DU Cares, Freshman and Sophomore Class Councils, Duquesne Program Council, RHA and others.
