The Residence Hall Association (RHA) serves as the representative student governing body for Duquesne’s Living Learning Centers. Residence Hall Association was organized to ensure an atmosphere conducive to positive group and individual experiences for resident students. During the 2010-11 academic year, a new initiative was introduced to incorporate Hall Councils for each Living Learning Center to get more resident student involvement. With the incorporation of Hall Councils, RHA has grown from five members in the past to approximately 30 active members in the organization.
This year, the Residence Hall Association is incorporating committees for the organization. Some committees that are being considered are Food Committee, Philanthropy and Service Committee, Sibling’s Weekend Committee, Funding Committee, and Public Relations Committee.
Residence Hall Association is starting fresh this year with a new executive board.
- Vincent Rugani, President
- Rory Gledhill, Executive Vice President
- Erin Hess, Vice President of Public Relations
- Richard Vaerewyck, Vice President of Finance
- Jarred Ervin, Vice President of Membership
Along with the new executive board, each Living Learning Center has voted for Hall Council members. The official general meeting of RHA was on Wednesday, September 26, 2012. This general meeting introduced the new Hall Councils to the organization as well as planned for the fall semester programs and events.
Nearing the end of October, for the third year in a row, RHA will also be hosting a Haunted Hayride. The haunted hayride consists of both a walking trail and a hayride portion. With these two attractions, the site has bonfires, in which students can gather, make S’mores, heat up apple cider, and have fun before departing to come back to Duquesne.
Residence Hall Association is responsible for hosting the annual Sibling’s Weekend which will be held the weekend of November 2-4, 2012. To get more information as it becomes available, check out RHA’s Campus Link or feel free to send an email to Vincent Rugani if you have any questions.
