Inaugural Graduate and Professional Student Resource Fair Slated

The University will host its first Graduate and Professional Student Resource Fair on Monday, Aug. 8, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Mellon Hall Patio. More than 25 offices and organizations are expected to participate in the event, which is sponsored by the Graduate and Professional Student Council, the Division of Student Life and the Office of Enrollment Management.

“An important function of the Graduate Council is to advocate for the needs of graduate students and to ensure that appropriate services are in place and that they are used,” said Paul-James Cukanna, associate provost for enrollment management, when explaining the importance of this new campus event. “Graduate students represent more than 40 percent of our enrollment. We continue to learn of and acknowledge the valuable role that graduate and professional students play at our institution.”

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the University’s various services and resources as well as meet fellow graduate students.

The resource fair will include the following special sessions, which will be held in the Laura Falk Lecture Hall of Mellon Hall:

  • Computer and Technology Services information, 9:30-10 a.m. and 11-11:30 a.m.
  • Duquesne Online Resources & Information (DORI) hosted by the student accounts and registrar offices, 10-10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to noon.

“The creation of this event also provides a unique opportunity for value-added interaction and collaboration between members of the major divisions across the University—especially the Divisions of Academic Affairs, Student Life and Management and Business,” Cukanna added.

The event, which is free and open to the public, includes a continental breakfast. Registration for the event is due by Thursday, Aug. 4. For more information, call 412.396.4019.
