United Way Campaign at 66 Percent of Goal

Duquesne’s United Way Campaign is progressing steadily toward its ultimate goals. As of Oct. 28, the campaign total was at more than $56,000 or 66 percent of its goal of $85,000. In all, 273 employees, or 17%, have donated or pledged, including 12 leaders who have donated $1,000 or more for a total of $21,034.

The Campus Wide Lunch on Oct. 27, which raised $2,400, featured a presentation by Dan Butler, who shared that 14 community agencies are now helping his family. Hospitals, schools and other social service agencies supported by United Way have helped Butler’s children manage their medical conditions, get through crises and develop mentally and emotionally.

“They can only do this because of the generosity of our fellow Pittsburghers,” said Butler. “It’s hard to say who benefits more, the person who gets or the person who gives.”

The United Way Campaign will continue with an early bird prize drawing on Friday, Nov. 4, and conclude on Wednesday, Nov. 23. The final prize drawing will be on Tuesday, Nov. 29.

Online donations are now being accepted through Duquesne’s United Way website.
