Penn State General Counsel to Address the Responsibility of Ethical Leadership

The Honorable Cynthia A. Baldwin, vice president and general counsel at The Pennsylvania State University, will speak about The Responsibility of Ethical Leadership at a luncheon presented by the Beard Institute on Thursday, April 12, at 11:30 a.m. at the Duquesne Club.

Baldwin graduated from the School of Law in 1980 and became Allegheny County’s first African-American female judge and the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania’s second. In January 2010, she was appointed the first in-house general counsel at Penn State.

A former Fulbright lecturer at the University of Zimbabwe, Baldwin has worked on anti-corruption projects in developing nations through the Brookings Institution. She was inducted into Duquesne’s Century Club of Distinguished Alumni in 2011.

James J. Byrne, executive director of the Beard Institute, noted that the topic of the luncheon is important because ethics need to be a top priority in business. “Ethics cannot be taken for granted in any profession,” Byrne said. “It needs constant reinforcement.”

The event, which includes lunch, costs $50 per person or $350 for a table of eight. Registration is available online.
