20th Annual Student-Nominated Teachers of the Year Named

Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Dr. Autumn Stewart and Associate Professor of Physical Therapy Dr. F. Richard Clemente were the honorees at the 20th annual Teacher of the Year ceremony, hosted by the Duquesne chapter of Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society, on April 23.

The award enables students the opportunity to nominate a teacher who exemplifies leadership and excellence in the classroom. More than 130 faculty members were nominated and due to the large number of nominees, two Teacher of the Year awards were given and Honorable Mention certificates were presented to three individuals.

Stewart, who is also a 2004 Mylan School of Pharmacy graduate, is the director of clinical pharmacy services at the Catholic Charities Free Health Care Center and a member of numerous professional organizations. She is the author of numerous publications and has made many presentations related to teaching and pharmacy care. In addition, Stewart received the Center for Teaching Excellence Creative Teaching Award in April 2011 and the Allegheny County Medical Society’s Pride in Pittsburgh Award in 2011.

Clemente first joined the Rangos School of Health Sciences faculty in 1991 and served as chair of the Department of Physical Therapy from 2004-08. He is a member of various professional societies and has received many awards, including the Rangos School Dean’s Award for Excellence in University Service and the Presidential Award for Teaching Excellence. Clemente has presented at several conferences and workshops, and has published various abstracts, manuscripts and book chapters.

  • Dr. Heather Rusiewicz, assistant professor and program director of the speech production clinic, Rangos School
  • Jennifer Paige Nightingale Massart, assistant professor of information systems management, Palumbo•Donahue School of Business.
