Summer Blood Drive Arrives on Campus

As good neighbors, Duquesne faculty, staff and students are asked to roll up their sleeves to benefit friends, family and other patients in local hospitals during the University’s regular summer blood drive.

The drive will be held on Tuesday, June 5, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on basketball court No. 2, fourth floor of the Power Center. A DU ID will be required for admittance to the Power Center. Additionally, each donor must bring a driver’s license, passport, military ID or Central Blood Bank ID card.

To sign up to donate, choose one of the following three options:

  • Become an eDonor. Schedule online and receive automatic e-mail reminders by logging onto www.centralbloodbank.org using sponsor code CU090009. Select “make an appointment,” enter donor ID and password or find New Donor at right and “click here.”  Follow the prompts; choose a time from the appointment schedule.
  • Contact your department recruiter.
  • Contact Carol Negley in human resources.

Appointments are available on the quarter hour. Eat before donating and drink lots of fluids that day.

The demand of patients in area hospitals requires 725 donors daily to help children and adults who suffer from leukemia, other cancers, require transplants or need surgery because of accidents or illnesses.

Check out the Brighten Life program for details about earning points for gift cards with each blood donation.
