Campus Events Support United Way Campaign

A dunking booth, hoagie sales, auctions, prizes and a campus-wide luncheon are among the scheduled fund-raising activities and initiatives to support this year’s United Way campaign.

Online donations are being accepted through Duquesne’s United Way website, where donors can designate gifts to the United Way Impact Fund or funnel them directly to local charities they already support.

Employees are invited to attend the campus United Way luncheon on Monday, Oct. 22, at noon in the Power Center Ballroom, which includes a silent auction and raffle. Attendees receive five free raffle tickets.

Annette Fetchko, administrator of the Catholic Charities Free Health Care Center, will share her reflections on the power and mutual benefits to be found in community engagement during the luncheon’s keynote address. At Catholic Charities Free Health Care Center, a nonprofit organization that provides free medical and dental care to patients in need, Fetchko has seen firsthand how service to others, a founding principle of the University, can unite a community.

Fetchko has worked in health care administration for 20 years. Her experience has given her a unique perspective on the health needs of the less fortunate populations in Pittsburgh, and her stories illustrate the importance of mission and community engagement.

Employees are asked to register online to attend the campus-wide United Way luncheon.
