New Educational Technology Director Named

Brian P. Bolsinger has been named the new director of educational technology at Duquesne effective Monday, Nov. 5. He follows Dr. Ruth Newberry, who has been named director of the new Duquesne University Online Campus.

Bolsinger will be responsible for establishing the strategic direction, budget prioritization and management of services for the innovative and effective use of educational technology across the University. He also will oversee technology initiatives that support and enhance the objectives set forth by the Office of Academic Affairs academic deans, with whom he will collaborate.

In his new post, Bolsinger will report to Dr. Alexandra Gregory, associate provost and associate academic vice president.

“We are looking forward to having someone with Brian’s valued experience step into a role as important as the director of educational technology. It is essential that faculty and students are supported in meeting learning goals with appropriate technology,” said Gregory.

Bolsinger most recently served as a lead systems analyst at Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC. Among his responsibilities there, he served as a member of the project management and implementation team responsible for the UPMC Electronic Health Record (eRecord) system.

In addition to his vast experience in the field of information technology, Bolsinger serves as an adjunct professor at Waynesburg University, where he teaches both online courses and in the classroom.

Bolsinger holds an MBA and a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from Point Park University as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Juniata College.
