Faculty & Staff Spotlight

Dr. Antony Davies, associate professor of economics, gave the lecture Taxes, Deficits, Debt and Gimmicks: Appearance Versus Reality to Congressional and federal agency staff at the Capitol Hill campus of George Mason University on Dec. 13. The lecture provided an exploratory look at U.S. tax code and discussed temporary taxes, withheld taxes, statutory versus economic taxes, complex taxes, inflation, and marginal and average taxes.

Ken Gormley, dean and professor of law, and Dr. John E. Murray, chancellor and professor of law, have been named to the 2012 Irish Legal 100. The list, published by the Irish Voice Newspaper, is comprised of the most accomplished and distinguished lawyers of Irish descent from across the United States. Individuals from law schools, law firms, the judiciary and the industry are selected for this prestigious list.

Wes Oliver, associate professor of law, will have the next episode of his series Crime & Punishment air on PCN (the Pennsylvania Cable Network) at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 23. During the episode, Oliver addresses the legal issues related to the fatal mauling of a two-year old boy on Nov. 4 at the Pittsburgh Zoo.
