Dr. Ronald C. Arnett, chair and professor of the Department of Communication and Rhetorical Studies and the Henry Koren, C.S.Sp., Endowed Chair for Scholarly Excellence, recently received a book award from the Eastern Communication Association. Arnett was recognized with the Everett Lee Hunt Award for his 2012 book, An Overture to Philosophy of Communication: The Carrier of Meaning, which was written with Annette Holba of Plymouth State University.

Dr. Patrick Juola, associate professor of computer science, was one of only 125 higher education affiliates nationwide to be nominated as a 2013 Technology Innovator in the Chronicle of Higher Education. The nomination was for his work in deciphering history and improving computer security with his computer program based upon language style and usage.

David A. Nolfi, health sciences librarian and library assessment coordinator, received the Professional Excellence Award from the Nursing and Allied Health Resources Section of the Medical Library Association (MLA). The award recognizes outstanding leadership and service for a librarian in meeting the information needs of nursing and allied health professionals. MLA is a nonprofit, educational organization committed to educating health information professionals, supporting health information research, promoting access to the world’s health sciences information and working to ensure that the best health information is available to all.
