Dr. Pat Arneson, associate professor in the Department of Communication and Rhetorical Studies, received the Donald H. Ecroyd Research and Scholarship Award, bestowed annually by the Pennsylvania Communication Association to an outstanding communication scholar in the state. This award recognized Arneson for her excellence in research and publication in the field of communication in the areas of free and responsible speech, philosophy of communication and communication ethics.

Robert Barker, Distinguished Professor of Law, wrote an article, Natural Law and the United States Constitution, that will be published by the Center for Vision and Values at Grove City College.

Dr. Lina Dostilio, director of academic community engagement, was elected chairperson of the board of the International Association for Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement during its annual meeting in Omaha, Neb. She will focus attention on promoting leading edge scholarship and more fully realizing the international aspects of the organization’s work.

Dr. John Stolz, director of the Center for Environmental Research and Education and professor of environmental microbiology, served as a panelist for a Nov. 16 event on Marcellus shale at Wheeling Jesuit University, W.Va. The panel discussion focused on the environmental, political viewpoint and community impact of Marcellus drilling throughout Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
