Dr. Diane Borello-France, associate professor of physical therapy, has been recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), which has selected her as its Elizabeth Noble Award recipient. The highest honor given by the APTA’s Section on Women’s Health, the Noble award recognizes a section member who provides extraordinary and exemplary service to the field of physical therapy for women or to the section itself. Borello-France will receive the national award at a meeting of the APTA on Wednesday, Feb. 5, in Las Vegas.

Sean Jones, associate professor of jazz studies, is among those selected to present oral histories as part of Celebrating Black History Month at the PNC Legacy Project, a downtown exhibit designed to honor the contributions of celebrated and everyday Pittsburghers and to document the city’s transformation throughout the past 200 years. The free exhibit, which opens on Monday, Jan. 20, and runs through Thursday, Feb. 20, is located at the Liberty Travel site at 600 Liberty Avenue.

Dr. Martha Somers, assistant professor of physical therapy, has been recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) with its 2014 Award for Excellence in Neurologic Education. This award is presented by the APTA’s neurology section to acknowledge and honor a member of the section whose clinical and/or academic neurologic educational contributions have been of exceptional value. Somers will receive the national award at the combined sections meeting of the APTA on Wednesday, Feb. 5, in Las Vegas.
