Former Kadet Photo Building Purchased by Duquesne

The University has purchased the former Kadet Photo building on 1004-1006 Fifth Ave.  The building has been vacant for approximately 15 years.

“Restoring this building—which will provide more space for campus growth—is a strategic approach that helps Duquesne while, at the same time, enhances the neighborhood,” said Rod Dobish, executive director of facilities management.  “In the short-term, an architect will make recommendations for upgrading the façade so the building’s appearance will be enhanced.”

Several uses for the property, which is located directly across from the CONSOL Energy Center and east of the Muldoon Building, are being discussed.  In recent years, administrative and operational functions have been relocated to the campus perimeter, creating more opportunities to consolidate academic units near the center of campus.
