Tough Competition Raises the Bar at Undergraduate Research Symposium

More than 90 projects compiled by 138 undergraduate students were reviewed by the campus and outside community during the sixth annual Undergraduate Research and Scholarship Symposium.

The April 9 event, which featured podium and poster presentations, resulted in 18 awards being given with $4,350 presented in prize money.

This year, the volunteer faculty judges had their work cut out for them, with many excellent and innovative projects.

“We had some excellent work shared at the symposium, and it’s exciting to see how students are gearing up for this symposium and ready to share their best work with the campus community,” said Dr. Alan Seadler, associate academic vice president for research and technology. “Our faculty judges faced a tougher job than ever, with so many outstanding options and excellent research projects. I commend the students, their faculty mentors and the faculty judges on their great jobs this year and look forward to seeing the work of our undergraduates next spring.”
