Campus Events Lead Up to International Day of Peace

The celebration 11 Days of Peace, which brings the themes of unity, justice, forgiveness and peace to our attention, is underway on campus in preparation for the International Day of Peace on Sunday, Sept. 21.

Faculty, staff and students have been participating in events presented by Duquesne’s Spiritan Campus Ministry, in collaboration with the Gumberg Library. The initiative includes distributing interfaith prayer cards throughout campus, lighting candles in the chapel and signing peace pledge cards. Events are free and open to the Duquesne community.

Liberal Arts alumnus Dr. George D’Angelo was the principal coordinator and founder of the International Day of Peace. The University recognized the retired Air Force Colonel in 2007 with a Mind, Heart and Spirit Award for his involvement in this worldwide initiative.
