Forensic Science and Law to Host National Training on DNA Technology

Twenty forensic experts from across the nation will receive training at Duquesne on the latest DNA analysis software.

The Technology Transition Workshop: The Utility and Features of Expert Systems for Interpreting DNA Data, on Tuesday, Sept. 16, and Wednesday, Sept. 17, will include demonstrations and hands-on training on four different software platforms, said Dr. Fred Fochtman, director of the Master’s of Forensic Science and Law program.

The training is provided through the national Forensic Science Technology Center of Excellence, funded through a $6 million National Institute of Justice grant, and is co-sponsored by partner RTI International.
