RSVP Now for Campus Tour of Religious Art

Faculty, staff and graduate students are encouraged to register now for Spirit and Symbol: A Campus Tour of Religious Art hosted by President Charles J. Dougherty on Tuesday, Sept. 30, at 3:30 p.m. on campus.

Spirit and Symbol kicks off the Center for the Catholic Intellectual Tradition’s 2014-2015 Catholic Artistic Imagination series and will spotlight nine works of religious art on campus, including:

  • Spiritan Triennial by Nick Perredo
  • Lourdes Grotto by the Rev. Vernon Gallagher, C.S.Sp.
  • Risen Christ by Sebastien Touret
  • Crucifix by Jose Pirkner
  • I Am Because We Are: a Celebration of Spiritans in Africa by Gerry Tonti
  • Caribbean Cross by Unknown Artist
  • Spiritus Vivus by Gerry Tonti
  • The Spirit of Duquesne by Kathleen Mulcahy and Ros Desmett
  • Elevate by Gerry Tonti.

Participants are asked to meet, rain or shine, in front of the Bayer Learning Center. A reception will immediately follow in Room 613 of the Union to provide participants the opportunity for further conversation on the artwork and the tour.

Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP no later than 3 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25, as space is limited and filling quickly.
