Building Relationships, Collaborations in Tanzania is Focus of Information Session

Faculty, staff and students who are interested in participating in research, teaching, service or study abroad in Africa are encouraged to attend Habari ya Afya: Building Relationships for Collaborations with Tanzania, the second in a series of information sessions hosted by the Center for African Studies.

The session, which will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 4, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in the Africa Room, will include presentations by Dr. Jaime Munoz, chair and professor of occupational therapy; Dr. Anne Marie Hansen, assistant professor of occupational therapy; and students who have previously worked in Africa. It will also highlight the forthcoming Maymester, which is scheduled to take place in Tanzania in May 2015. A question-and-answer session will follow the presentations.

“We cannot underestimate the value of building on existing practices and relationships forged by faculty, staff and students in Tanzania,” said Dr. Gerald Boodoo, director of the Center for African Studies. “Supporting, strengthening and expanding these connections are crucial to developing lasting, sustainable research and study abroad opportunities.”

A reception will follow the session and light refreshments will be served. RSVPs are requested.
