Italian Film Festival Continues with ‘The Easy Life/Il Sorpasso’

The Italian Classic Film Festival hosted on Duquesne’s campus continues with a screening of The Easy Life/Il Sorpasso.

The 1962 road comedy, directed by Dino Risi, will be shown on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 6 p.m. in Room 719 of Fisher Hall.

The Easy Life

The Easy Life features a free-wheeling older bachelor and a bookish, young law student who take a madcap trip from Rome to rural Southern Italy. Their adventures provide plenty of comedy, but the film itself offers modern audiences a portrait of Italy in the early 1960s when an economic boom was starting to transform the country from a traditionally agricultural and family-centered society into an individualistic consumer culture.

The Italian Classic Film Festival is sponsored by the Honorary Consulate of Italy/Pittsburgh, in collaboration with the 40th Western Pennsylvania Symposium on World Literatures and Duquesne’s Center for International Relations.

All festival screenings are open to the Duquesne community and the general public. For more information, contact ir@duq.edu or italyconsulpgh@gmail.com.
