Nicole Feldhues, director of career services and chair of this year’s campaign, said she is thankful to all who have donated so far, but acknowledged that there is still work to be done. “We’re off to a good start, but need the support of the entire campus community to meet (or exceed) our goals,” said Feldhues. “When we meet these goals, Duquesne University demonstrates to our neighbors that we are a vital part of the 60,000 generous donors and more than 700 workplaces who, together, raise nearly $34 million dollars for the Pittsburgh region.”

Opportunities to support the campaign continue with a campus-wide luncheon on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at noon in the Power Center Ballroom. Child advocate Steve Hollander will be the keynote speaker.

Hollander is executive director of KidsVoice, a local non-profit agency that advocates for 3,000 abused, neglected and at-risk children each year. His work has earned him the Child Advocate of the Year Award from the Pennsylvania Bar Association as well as the American Bar Association’s Child Advocacy Award. Hollander will speak about his experiences and share stories of how United Way-funded programs affect local communities.

The United Way luncheon will include silent auctions and raffles. Prizes include a Kindle Fire, an overnight stay in the Muldoon apartment, three hours of limo service, personal trainer sessions and more. A complete list of auction and raffle prizes is available online.

The luncheon is free, but employees are asked to RSVP by Monday, Oct. 27.
