In the newly released 2016 Best Graduate Schools list, U.S. News ranked the School of Nursing at No. 75 in the Best Nursing Schools category, marking a significant 52-spot jump from 2012, when the school ranked at No. 127.

“This new ranking reflects the School of Nursing as No. 8 among Catholic universities and an increase in our national ranking to No. 75,” said Dr. Mary Ellen Glasgow, dean and professor of nursing. “The Duquesne School of Nursing’s increased ranking by U.S. News and World Report is a direct result of the faculty’s efforts to increase innovation, research and quality.”

The School of Nursing was among just 246 nursing master’s programs across the nation to be included in the 2016 rankings by U.S. News. The publication considered a weighted average of 13 indicators for its methodology, including quality assessment; student selectivity and achievement; faculty resources; research activity; overall rank; and specialty rankings.

“I would like to thank the School of Nursing faculty and staff for their collective efforts on achieving this accomplishment,” said Glasgow. “As with any significant recognition or success, it requires a team approach. We are extremely fortunate to have a faculty and staff that work very well together.”
