Students, Faculty Invited to Submit Climate Change Research for Conference

Climate change has been a popular topic of discussion and research for a number of years, and Pope Francis is bringing it to the forefront of the Church’s environmental agenda as an issue that must be addressed. In addition, the topic will also be the focus of the University’s inaugural Presidential Conference on the Integrity of Creation, which will be held from Wednesday, Sept. 30, through Friday, Oct. 3, on campus.

Faculty and students are invited to submit papers and posters on climate change for consideration to be presented at the conference. Prizes will be awarded to Duquesne presenters for:

  • Best faculty paper – $500
  • Best faculty poster – $250
  • Best student paper – $500
  • Best student poster – $250.

At the opening conference, climate change will be discussed as a substantive and worrying change of patterns in the weather and related phenomena that negatively impact the entire planet. The implications of climate change will be explored from a variety of scholarly perspectives to consider ways to improve the planet’s future and safeguard the surrounding integrity of creation.

As such, submissions from all fields of study are welcome and encouraged. Visit www.duq.edu/ioc-papers by the Friday, May 15, deadline to submit a poster or paper.
