Approximately 200 Graduating from School of Pharmacy This Weekend

The Mylan School of Pharmacy will graduate approximately 200 students at its annual Spring Commencement ceremony this Saturday, May 23, at 10:30 a.m. in the A.J. Palumbo Center.

The Rev. Sean M. Hogan, C.S.Sp., executive vice president for student life, will confer the degrees upon the students.

Dr. John R. Reynolds, interim vice provost for undergraduate education and professor of pharmacy at Northeastern University, will deliver the Commencement address.

Reynolds first joined Northeastern’s Bouvé College of Health Sciences in 2002. He has taught courses in topics including principles of translational medicine, nursing pharmacology, pathophysiology, and biopharmaceutics and pharmacokinetics, among others. Reynolds’ research focus is in clinical pharmacokinetics as well as pharmacy administration.

Reynolds earned his doctor of pharmacy from Duquesne in 1983; a bachelor of science in pharmacy from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in 1980; and his teaching certification in secondary education from Boston State College in 1980.

At Duquesne, Reynolds served on the School of Pharmacy Dean’s Advisory Council from 2000 to 2014, and he was honored with the School of Pharmacy Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2011. In addition, he served as the National President of the Rho Chi Society (the national pharmacy honor society) and also received the Massachusetts Pharmacists Association’s prestigious Bowl of Hygea Award in 2013.

As part of the Commencement ceremony, Pharmacy Dean Dr. J. Douglas Bricker will lead the graduates in reciting the Oath of a Pharmacist, and Dr. Ric Boni, advisor to the Class of 2015, will hood the students and recite the Oath and Prayer of Maimomides.

A Baccalaureate Mass will precede graduation at 8 a.m. in the Duquesne University Chapel.
