Incoming Students and Families Headed to Campus for FAST

The incoming class of freshmen and transfer students will have the opportunity to get a head start on the upcoming academic year at the Freshman Advisement Summer Transition (FAST) program Tuesday, July 7, through Friday, July 10.

FAST is designed to help new students and their families smoothly transition to life at Duquesne. Last year, a record-setting number of more than 2,200 students and their family members attended the on-campus program.

Biomedical engineering, business, education, health sciences, and natural and environmental sciences majors are invited to spend the day on campus on July 7 or Thursday, July 9. Liberal arts, music, nursing and pharmacy majors are invited to visit campus on Wednesday, July 8, or July 10.

During FAST, activities offered to new students include:

  • Meeting Dr. Douglas K. Frizzell, the new vice president for student life
  • Meeting academic advisors
  • Learning more about student support services, commuter affairs, residence life, DORI, the Honors College, individual schools and wellbeing initiatives
  • Having a student ID photo taken
  • Setting up a student bank account
  • Ordering/purchasing textbooks and a computer
  • Touring residence halls
  • Learning about the Orientation program
  • Connecting with future classmates.

FAST is hosted by the Office of Freshman Development and Special Services.
