Annual United Way Campaign to Begin Sept. 18

The Spiritan mission to serve the disadvantaged has never been passive, but always an example of faith in action. The campus community can continue to support this commitment to helping others when the 2015 United Way Campaign kicks off on Friday, Sept. 18.

Giving to the United Way is a simple way to make a positive, lasting impact in the lives of those in need.

The campaign begins with a breakfast for campaign team members who volunteered to educate and coordinate donors from their departments, schools and offices. A United Way representative along with chairperson of this year’s campaign, Tom Hart, director of public safety, will answer questions and walk participants through the donation process.

Last year, Duquesne donated more than $105,000 and exceeded the United Way’s 105 Percent Challenge, which was a call to increase contributions in more than one campaign category, such as dollars raised or number of leadership donors. In the area of leadership donors, the University surpassed the challenge with a 25 percent increase.

Upcoming campaign events include a Chuck Wagon BBQ, sponsored by Public Safety, a campus-wide luncheon and the annual breast cancer walk. To keep track of campaign events, visit the United Way events calendar online.

Online donations will be accepted through Wednesday, Nov. 25.
