Faculty & Staff Spotlight

Dr. Henk ten Have, director of the Center for Healthcare Ethics, delivered presentations at the 11th Brazilian Congress of Bioethics, which gathered 800 participants in Curitiba, Brazil, Sept. 16-18. Ten Have gave an invited plenary presentation, The Teaching of Ethics in Times of Inequalities in a Global Society, as well as the roundtable presentation, Human Vulnerability in the Face of Social Inequalities. Doctoral student Aiyub Alwehaibi presented A Novel Role of Medical Ethicists in Public Education about Maternal Substance Abuse. The gathering with the Brazilian Society of Bioethics, the Brazilian Clinical Ethics Society and the International Association for Ethics Education focused on the impact of inequality as a major economic, political and social problem, as well as a prime moral challenge in health care.
