Athletics Launches Redesigned Website, Uses Photography in Storytelling

The Department of Athletics has launched its newly designed website, GoDuquesne.com, in time to celebrate the men’s basketball centennial season.

According to David Saba, associate athletic director of media relations, the department thought it would be a good time to refresh their web presence and find a way to tell the stories of the University’s athletic programs and student athletes in a more effective way.

Saba and his team began work with CBS Interactive in May, discussing their needs and objectives. The overarching goals, Saba said, were to make the site more visually appealing and photo-driven in its storytelling, enabling the department to utilize its scores of great photos.

After several months of drafting and tweaking, the new site officially launched on Nov. 10 and has been well received. Feedback indicates that visitors like the overall new look and the use of large images complemented by highlighted information and scores.

“We’ve received a lot of positive feedback regarding the redesign of GoDuquesne.com,” said Saba. “The look of the site is much more contemporary and impactful, which reflects more positively on our athletics programs. It is also more intuitive, making for easier navigation. Connecting to DU athletics is now a more fluid digital experience for fans, alumni, students, parents and recruits.”

The new site is also completely responsive so that it retains its look and agility across devices—a key component in the athletics department’s efforts to reach its target audience.
