  • Dr. John Viator, director of Biomedical Engineering Program, $275,409 in Year 3 funding, from the National Institutes of Health, National Cancer Institute, for Photoacoustic Detection, Capture and Analysis of Circulating Melanoma Cells. This brings the total amount of funding to $838,255.
  • Principal investigator Dr. Jelena M. Janjic, associate professor of pharmaceutics, Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Mylan School of Pharmacy, and co-investigators Dr. John Pollock, professor of biological sciences, and Dr. Benedict Kolber, assistant professor of biological sciences, both of the Bayer School, Year 2 funding of $163,350, from the National Institute on Drugs of Abuse (NIDA) (5R21DA039621-02) for Theranostic Pain Nanomedicines: Imaging Inflammation, Reducing Pain and Need for Opioids. This brings the total project to $338,350.
  • Students Sneha Potdar, Shikhar Mohan and Kevin DeBoyace, Mylan School of Pharmacy, $5,000, from the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, for the seventh annual Pharmaceutical Sciences Research Symposium. Dr. James Drennen, associate dean of research and graduate programs, will oversee the project.
