Faculty Can Head to Urban Barn to Finish Community-Engaged Writing Projects

The Center for Community-Engaged Teaching and Research (CETR) again will sponsor a two-day writing retreat for faculty and community partners advancing community-engaged writing projects.

CETR Director Dr. Lina Dostilio describes the retreat at PointBreezeway in Pittsburgh’s East End as a “two-day, deep-dive version of our year-long writing group” on Wednesday, June 1, and Thursday, June 2.

In addition to having free writing time, faculty attendees can hear from panelists Dr. Norman Conti, associate professor of sociology; Dr. Sandra Quinones, assistant professor of education; and Dr. Rachael Neilan, assistant professor of mathematics and computer science, whose community-engaged work has been published as journal articles and book chapters.

Additionally, Dr. Laurel Willingham-McLain, director of faculty development and teaching excellence for the Center for Teaching Excellence, will facilitate an Overview of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. Facilitated yoga breaks and individual writing consultations are also available.
