Dr. Jordan Covvey, assistant professor of pharmacy administration in the Mylan School of Pharmacy’s Division of Clinical, Social and Administrative Sciences, presented two papers at the May 20-25 annual meeting of the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research, Washington, D.C. They were: Exploring The Association Between Statins and COPD: An Analysis of the 2009-2010 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, with co-authors including Duquesne colleagues Dr. Khalid M. Kamal and Dr. Vince Giannetti, and Characteristics and Health Care Utilization Among Adults with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease According to Missed Work Status: A Retrospective Analysis of the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey, with Kamal among the co-authors. Both abstracts were published in Value in Health 2016.

Dr. Khalid M. Kamal, associate professor in the Mylan School of Pharmacy’s Division of Clinical, Social and Administrative Sciences, moderated a podium session on Medication Adherence at the May 20-25 annual meeting of the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) in Washington, D.C. Kamal serves as co-chair of ISPOR’s Oncology Special Interest Group.

Additionally, three of Kamal’s poster presentations, work done in collaboration with faculty and students at Duquesne and other universities, were selected as Best Poster Finalists among 1,800 submissions. The recognized posters were: Socio-Demographic Factors and Out-Of-Pocket Expenditure for Prescription Drugs in Rheumatoid Arthritis; Barriers and Facilitators to Diabetes Self-Management in a Primary Care Setting: Physician Perspective; and Cost-Effectiveness Analysis of Diabetic Nephropathy Management.
