Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk Slated, Benefits American Cancer Society

Registration is still open for faculty, staff and students who want to honor breast cancer survivors, friends and family of those who have battled the disease by participating in the 7th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk at Duquesne University.

The two-mile Breast Cancer Awareness Walk will be held on Friday, Oct. 7, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., starting on Academic Walk near the Union. For the first time, this year’s event includes two walk times (11:15 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.) to accommodate work and class schedules.

Cost is $20 for employees and $15 for students. Participants who sign up with someone who did not walk in last year’s event pay only $35 for both walkers. Those who register by Thursday, Sept. 29, receive a free commemorative t-shirt. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.

Participants will be served a complimentary lunch. Vendors will be in attendance selling various items to benefit the cause.

To register, participants can either:

  • Download the registration form in advance and return the completed form to Room 305 of the Union with the registration fee
  • Fill out a registration form by visiting Room 305 of the Union
  • Register on the day of the event starting at 11 a.m. on Academic Walk outside the Union.
