Global Health Initiative Continues with Luncheon and Planning Meeting

An initiative to better understand global health concerns across campus will once again bring together faculty and staff from the health disciplines. The Global Health Matters initiative grew from a University-wide survey distributed in April to assess global health teaching, research and service activities at Duquesne. It kicked off last fall.

Faculty from the Schools of Health Sciences, Nursing and Pharmacy want to provide a forum for cross-disciplinary conversation and collaboration in the area of global health, explained Dr. Jordan Covvey, assistant professor of pharmacy administration and one of the organizers of the event.

As a result, a luncheon and planning meeting will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 8, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Africa Room in the Union. This event will focus on making connections between people on campus interested in global health; sharing details of Duquesne’s current global health teaching, research or service activities; and setting future goals for the global health initiative on campus.

Please RSVP by Feb. 1.

The roundtable and lunch is sponsored by the Office of Mission and Identity, the Center for African Studies, the Center for Spiritan Studies, the Office of International Programs, and the Center for Community-Engaged Teaching and Research.
