School of Pharmacy Professor Receives Prestigious Research Award

Dr. Devika Manickam, assistant professor of pharmaceutics in the School of Pharmacy, recently received a 2017 New Investigator Award from the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP).

Manickam’s research project, DNA Nanoparticles for Ischemic Stroke Therapy, garnered the award from the AACP, which provides start-up funding for the independent research programs of early-career pharmacy faculty. Each grant includes funding of up to $10,000 for research.

In addition, Manickam will have the opportunity to present her research findings at the AACP’s annual meeting in July 2018. She first joined the pharmacy faculty in January 2016 and teaches Pharmaceutical Principles and Drug Delivery Systems in the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) curriculum.
