Coffee House Reading Series Returns for Spring Semester

The campus Coffee House Reading Series returns for the 2017 spring semester with poetry readings from Malcolm Friend and Yona Harvey at the Genesius Theater on Wednesday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m.

Friend is a poet and CantoMundo fellow whose work has earned him the Merrill Moore Prize for Poetry and the Talbot International Award for Writing. His work has appeared in publications such as La Respuesta Magazine, the Black American Edition of Fjords Review, Alicante’s Información, Fields Magazine, Acentos Review and Pretty Owl Poetry.

Poet Harvey is also an assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh. She is author of the poetry collection Hemming the Water, a Kate Tufts Discovery Awardee and finalist for the Hurston-Wright Award. Harvey’s work has appeared in A Poet’s Craft: A Comprehensive Guide to Making and Sharing Your Poetry and The Force of What’s Possible: Accessibility and the Avant-Garde.

The Coffee House Reading Series is sponsored by the Department of English, and features the literary works and creative writing of established writers as well as Duquesne students.
