Grants Received

Funds totaling $200,199 were recently received by the Office of International Programs, the Center for African Studies, the Bayer School of Natural and Environmental Sciences (BSNES), and the McAnulty College and Graduate School of Liberal Arts.

  • Dr. Joseph DeCrosta, director of the Office of International Programs, and Dr. Gerald Boodoo, director of the Center for African Studies, $143,160, from the U.S. Department of State, passed through IREX, an international non-profit organization. Funds will be used for Duquesne to host a 6-week academic and leadership institute for 25 young African leaders.
  • Dr. John Stolz, professor of environmental microbiology, and Dr. Brady Porter, associate professor of biological sciences, BSNES, $54,039, from the Colcom Foundation, passed through the West Virginia University Foundation Water Research Institute and Center. Funds will be used to support the Allegheny River Region QUEST Project.
  • John Lane, assistant professor of theater arts, McAnulty College and Graduate School of Liberal Arts, $3,000, from the Maker Education Initiative, for the 2017 STAGES Summer Camp.
