Law Students Host Soul Food Sampler; Support High School Mock Trial Team

The Black Law Student Association (BLSA) is hosting its annual Soul Food Sampler next week with meals catered by Roxanne’s Take-out and Catering.

Pre-order meals through Thursday, Feb. 23, when customers can pick up their hot meals from noon to 1:30 p.m. and from 5 to 6 p.m. in the law school student lounge.

Each $10 order includes either fried chicken or fried catfish and comes with macaroni and cheese, sweet potatoes, traditional greens and corn bread.

In addition, customers are invited to make a donation to support the Barack Obama Academy of International Studies’ mock trial team, which is the only mock trial team in the Pittsburgh public school system. The funds raised will help finance their travel expenses for competition.

Customers are welcome to carry out their orders or enjoy their food with colleagues in the lounge.

“BLSA wants to encourage all students to pursue academia and not get discouraged,” said BLSA President Taylor Corn. “We have created our Pre-Law Pipeline in hopes to support the only Pittsburgh public school with a mock trial team and keep these young students interested in school and the law. Our members are very proud of this event.”
