Murphy to Discuss Helping Families in Mental Health Crisis Act

U.S. Rep. Tim Murphy will visit campus next week to discuss his Helping Families in Mental Health Crisis Act, H.R. 2646. The act, which is part of the 21st Century Cures health care reform package, was signed into law last year.

Sponsored by McAnulty College and Graduate School of Liberal Arts, Murphy’s presentation is free and will be held Tuesday, Feb. 21, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the Union Ballroom.

During his talk, Murphy will address some of the key points addressed in H.R. 2646, including structural reforms for those with mental illness and substance abuse disorders, growing the next generation of mental health practitioners and supporting funding for innovative care models.
