Women’s Swimming Recognized as a Scholar All-America Team

The Executive Committee of the College Swimming Coaches Association of America has recognized Duquesne University as a Scholar All-America Team for achieving exemplary academic performance during the fall 2016 semester.

To receive the award, swim teams must earn a GPA of a 3.0 or higher during the fall semester. Duquesne had the second-highest GPA of Atlantic 10 Conference teams, earning a team GPA of 3.53 during the fall 2016 semester.

“For our program to continuously be recognized as a Scholar All-America Team is a testament to the hard work our ladies put in every day in the classroom,” said head coach David Sheets. “They each exemplify the term student-athlete.”

Duquesne is one of 164 teams at the Division I level to receive honors among the 394 total Division I, Division II, Division III, NAIA and NJCAA schools.

The team is competing in the Atlantic 10 Championship today, Wednesday, Feb. 15, through Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio. Duquesne had its highest Atlantic 10 Conference finish in program history last season, placing second in the 2016 A-10 Championship.
