Duquesne Community Invited to Special Event Fostering Authentic Relationships in Pittsburgh

What does it mean to build authentic relationships in communities closest to campus?

Duquesne faculty, staff and students will have the opportunity to explore this topic and other ways to create sustainable partnerships in the city we call home.

Co-sponsored by Duquesne’s Center for Community-Engaged Teaching and Research, and the Blind and Vision Rehabilitation Services of Pittsburgh (BVRS), the meeting Won’t You Be My Neighbor? Building Authentic Relationships in the Community will be held on Monday, March 27, from noon to 2 p.m. at the BVRS.

Using a speed-dating format, attendees will visit three stations. Participants will spend time interacting with other faculty and staff while becoming acquainted with BVRS staff and services. Duquesne participants will have the opportunity to explore how they might collaborate with BVRS in mutually beneficial ways on future educational and civic opportunities, while learning about Duquesne’s Spiritan-inspired approach to community engagement.

The BVRS is located at 1816 Locust Street, across from Mercy Hospital. The venue is a five-minute walk from campus, and a free shuttle will be available and depart from the Union Circle at 11:50 a.m., returning to campus at 2:10 p.m.

Lunch will be provided at the BVRS. Please RSVP to ccit@duq.edu in advance.
