The American Association of Colleges of Nursing’s Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) recently granted accreditation to four of the School of Nursing’s academic programs.

As an outcome from the CCNE’s recent assessment, the school’s post-graduate Advanced Practice Nurse certificate and Doctor of Nursing Practice programs received their first-ever CCNE accreditation, for 10 and five years respectively. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing and the Master of Science in Nursing were each granted reaccreditation for another 10 years.

“The recent CCNE accreditation signifies our commitment to meeting high academic standards, and is a stamp of approval on the quality instruction our student nurses can expect to receive from Duquesne faculty,” said Nursing Dean Dr. Mary Ellen Glasgow.

The CCNE accreditation team visited the School of Nursing in September 2016 for an in-depth site review, during which its curriculum, completion rates, career outcomes and school resources were carefully analyzed.

The school also prepared a self-study that highlighted academic accomplishments and student successes. Faculty, staff, students and community leaders were also interviewed by the CCNE review team about their impressions on the education provided by the school.
